Artist Spotlight: Deerichi – The Fearless Creative Behind GBEDUThe update
Emerging from Abuja’s thriving cultural scene, Dirichi Mark Eche-Ejikeme, widely known as Deerichi, is a multi-dimensional artist reshaping the Nigerian creative landscape.

A rapper, singer, sound engineer, model, and law student from Anambra State, Deerichi blends music, fashion, and culture into a fearless artistic identity that resonates beyond borders.
Crafting the Sound of GBEDU
Deerichi’s latest single, “GBEDU,” has quickly become a vibrant anthem of joy and movement. Produced by Adie, the track pulses with a unique rhythm that feels both experimental and universal.
Sharing insight into his process, Deerichi reflects:
“When I was creating GBEDU, my only mission was to make something that gets people moving no matter where they’re from. The beat was produced by Adie, who told me it was the most unique beat he has ever made and I knew right away it had that magic. I wanted the rhythm to feel like pure energy, the kind that pulls you to the dancefloor before you even realize it. The process was all about capturing that summer feeling—late nights with friends, laughter, and moments where nothing else matters but the music. I kept the lyrics light and fun, letting the beat lead the way. For me, GBEDU is more than just a song—it’s a celebration of joy, connection, and the power of music to unite people across cultures.”
With this track, Deerichi reaffirms his place as one of Abuja’s most exciting new voices, capable of creating music that is both deeply personal and universally relatable.
From At Midnight to Now
Deerichi first gained recognition with his debut EP, At Midnight (September 2023), which peaked at #16 on Nigeria’s Top Alternative Albums Chart and crossed 30,000 streams—an impressive feat for an independent release.
