Artist Spotlight: EL Nayaan – Turning Pain Into Purpose, Building Sounds of ResilienceThe update
Emerging from the heart of Nigeria’s vibrant music scene, EL Nayaan is proving to be more than just another rising voice — he’s an artist whose sound and story are rooted in resilience, transformation, and a fearless sense of self-expression.

Born on January 22, 2000, EL Nayaan began shaping his craft in Kaduna, where studios like Audio City Studios, Futuremusiq, and KD World Records gave him his earliest platforms. His artistic journey deepened when he moved to Abuja, a shift that opened doors to mentorship at YesAcademyNigeria and collaborations at Elytron, where he was granted studio space that became a foundation for his unique sound.
Blending Afro-dancehall, Afro-swing, and Afropop, Nayaan crafts music that’s as rhythmic as it is purposeful — a sound that speaks to community, healing, and strength.
Rising Through Setbacks
Nayaan’s story is not without its challenges. After an accident that left him with a fractured hand, he could have paused his career — but instead, he chose to turn his pain into fuel. “I don’t like to just submit to what life throws at me,” he says. “Instead, I flip it. I’d rather say, I’m showing life what I can do, instead of, life is showing me something.”
That grit and determination shine through his catalog, which already includes standout singles like “No Competition,” “Talk,” “Mandela,” “Addicted,” and the official theme song for Nigeria’s basketball teams at the 2021 Olympics — proof that his artistry is already crossing boundaries of sound and culture.
The Next Chapter: YOLO & All My Life
Now shuttling between Abuja and Lagos, EL Nayaan is gearing up for one of his most personal and anticipated projects yet: a dual release of “YOLO” and “All My Life.”

The project, born out of a dark moment, captures the duality of acceptance and defiance, pain and joy, freedom and destiny. “Before, it was just vibes, vibes,” Nayaan admits. “But now, I really want to write about the things people don’t like about me — because those same things are what some people love about me too. That duality is part of the story.”
