Artist Spotlight: Juice Coal — From Enugu Dreams to Lagos TriumphThe update
Juice Coal is steadily rising as one of Nigeria’s most promising voices, blending Afrobeats energy with alternative hip hop storytelling.

With his latest single “Oh No” (released September 17, 2025), the Enugu-born, Lagos-based artist delivers a victory anthem that captures both his journey and his resilience.
Early Foundations
Juice Coal began carving out his identity in 2022 with the release of “Antidote,” a confessional, funk-inspired hip hop record produced by Eraps. Written by Sidney Nzekwe, the track revealed his unfiltered honesty: “I thought I needed love but it turns out it was the studio calling.” From the very start, Juice Coal established himself as more than just another Afrobeats newcomer—he was an artist determined to tell his story, even without the polish of a full studio setup.

From Enugu to Lagos
Hailing from Enugu, Juice Coal’s decision to move to Lagos was a turning point. The city, often described as the heartbeat of Nigeria’s music scene, became the stage where he could transform ambition into action. That migration wasn’t without obstacles—financial strain, industry gatekeeping, and personal challenges—but those very experiences now shape his sound.
The Power of “Oh No”
“Oh No” is the sound of triumph. Built on infectious Afrobeats grooves and laced with funk-inspired rhythms, the track is a bold rejection of doubt and defeat.

“‘Oh No’ is a victory song. There’s this certainty that I’ll pass this stage and reach where I want to be. It’s a song I play to celebrate triumph,” says Juice Coal.
The track is more than just celebratory—it’s motivational, a soundtrack for anyone defying the odds. With its anthemic hooks and spirited beat, “Oh No” positions Juice Coal as both a storyteller and a motivator.
