The music industry is not for the faint of heart. It’s a space where talent alone isn’t enough—persistence, reinvention, and adaptability are just as crucial. Few artists embody these qualities as well as Vuga Kvngz. Born Chiedozie Eze Walter in Owerri, Imo State, Nigeria, Vuga has spent years navigating the highs and lows of the industry, carving out a space for himself through a unique fusion of Hip-Hop, Alternative, Afrobeats, and Reggae—a sound he calls “Vuga Vibes.”

From the bustling streets of Nigeria’s music scene to the unexpected avenues of Istanbul, Turkey, his journey has been defined by ambition, setbacks, and ultimately, triumph. His latest project, When Vuga Was Just Kvngz, released on March 14, 2025, stands as a powerful reflection of his artistic and personal evolution.
From Owerri to Istanbul: A Cross-Continental Music Journey
Vuga’s musical journey began at 19, after completing a Political Science degree. Like many young artists in Nigeria, he sought to break into the country’s highly competitive music industry. He spent years refining his sound, working in different capacities within the industry, and experimenting with various styles. However, the struggles of an independent artist in Nigeria, coupled with the challenges of sustaining a career in a saturated market, led him to seek new opportunities abroad.
Moving to Istanbul, Turkey, wasn’t just a change of location—it was a turning point. In Turkey, he found a fresh audience, a different creative landscape, and, most importantly, the space to reignite his passion for music. He began releasing music consistently, blending Nigerian influences with international sounds, and making a name for himself within Istanbul’s growing Afrobeats scene.
“When Vuga Was Just Kvngz” – A Testament to Growth
His latest project, When Vuga Was Just Kvngz, is more than just an EP—it’s a statement. A marker of his growth, resilience, and the defining moments that shaped him into the artist he is today. The project features five tracks:
With a guest feature from Jzty, the EP blends raw emotion with polished production, offering listeners a mix of introspection, energy, and infectious melodies.
Overcoming Setbacks to Create a Timeless Sound
The journey to completing When Vuga Was Just Kvngz wasn’t smooth. Early in the recording process, he faced a major setback—his original files were lost due to a producer’s mishap. Many artists would have seen this as a crushing blow, but for Vuga, it became a defining moment. Instead of dwelling on the loss, he used it as motivation to refine his sound and create something even better.

That’s when he linked up with Ceeceebeatz, a producer who became more than just a collaborator—he was a creative partner. Over an intensive two-week studio lockdown, they worked tirelessly, bouncing ideas off close friends, rewriting, refining, and pushing the limits of their creativity.
Some songs came together effortlessly, while others required hours of debate, revision, and trial runs. The result was a body of work that truly represents Vuga Kvngz—not just as an artist, but as a storyteller and visionary.
A Bright Future for Vuga Kvngz
With When Vuga Was Just Kvngz now out, the reception has been overwhelmingly positive. Fans have connected with the honesty in his storytelling, the seamless genre-blending, and the undeniable energy that defines the Vuga Vibes experience.
