Episode 15: KILIMANJARO by DANZIKOThe update

“2024 is the promised year for the underground RADAR. If you have a wonderful talent, show the world.”
Today, we have someone proudly raising the flag for the Gen-Z generation, all the way from Bauchi—Danziko. It’s great to have you in our community!
• Could you tell us your real name?
Thank you for having me. My real name is Bolarinwa Daniel Oladeji.
• When did you officially start your music career?
I started my music career officially in 2022.
• What motivated you to pursue a career in music?
My passion for music and my family. I owe them a better life.
• What was your experience like before starting your music journey? Did you have any doubts about your talent?
Yeah, I had so many doubts. So many people discouraged me, many didn’t believe in me. I was told hurtful words, but I never gave up. Funny enough, many of those people are my fans now.
• Let’s talk about your song “Kilimanjaro.” Is it dedicated to someone special?
Nah, it’s not dedicated to anyone. I made that song out of the thoughts in my head—I’d call it an imaginary song. I made it out of imaginations, lol.
• We noticed that you featured RADARrtist and LandLord on “Kilimanjaro.” How did that collaboration come about?
Yeah, Asound is a wonderful person. We met at a show in Jos (IMF Festival) hosted by some of the greats in the music industry—MI Abaga, Ice Prince Zamani, and Jesse Jagz. Asound graced the show, and I loved his performance. We linked up and made one of the best songs in the country right now.
• How has the song been received so far?
Kilimanjaro is doing madness!!! In less than a month, for someone like me who doesn’t have a fan base, Kilimanjaro hit over 4k+ streams on all platforms. It’s called Grace—Grace of God and the reward of good music. I love to give myself my flowers. I put in a lot of work. Special thanks to everyone that made Kilimanjaro a success.
• If you could share a message with your potential fans out there, what would it be?
We’re going to be the biggest geng in the world soon. I call them Geng Zee (it’s a purple home). Purple is the new black.
