Episode 2: DROPITAHGAIN by HYBRIDTRIPS.

• Hello dear, can we know HybridTrips? What’s your real name and your story? Where are you from? Tribe? Student? (If yes, where?)

I am Bakare Ololade Micheal, the oldest son in a family of six from Ogun State. I began my musical journey at a young age, excelling in drumming, and was influenced by my church upbringing.
I officially delved into music production in 2010 at Soundtime Studios in Kaduna, where I gained valuable experience that molded my musical beliefs and refined my skills. Music is like a spouse to me, holding immense significance in my life due to my deep passion for it. Though I have completed my studies in Sociology at the Federal University Oye Ekiti, I like to see myself as a lifelong learner.

• What inspired the name HybridTrips?

The name HybridTrips reflects my versatility across various roles in the recording industry. I’m involved as a music producer, sound engineer, writer, A&R, singer, and creative director. Due to this diverse skill set, my friends affectionately refer to me as “Hybrid,” and I added “Trips” to the name to signify my trippy vibes.

• What track signifies your pioneer production work?

Honestly, I think there are two:

• Highest Student by Mojo AF & Masiano
• For You by Mannie Tseayo & HybridTrips

• Who are the artists you aspire to work with in the future?

I aspire to work with Kanye West, Skepta, Burna Boy, Zkid, J Hus, FirstKlaz, and Odumodublvck.

• Finally, what are the requirements an artist must meet when working with you?

• The artist has to understand the music business to an extent.
• Their publishing should be sorted out.
• They should have a detailed plan on how we will promote the song from pre-release to post-release.
