Episode 5: ROBINHOOD by HVNTARThe update

• Hello Hvntar, nice to have you on today’s episode of Talk To Us. Let’s know you officially, what’s your biological name?
My name is Peter Oche.
• What inspired the name Hvntar?
There was a popular story of a legendary hunter back in my hometown that we were told as children. I really loved the story, so much that I would beg my granddad to tell it to me every chance I got. As a result, everyone started calling me “Hunter,” which eventually became my nickname. As I grew older, when I needed to rebrand my musical career, it just felt right. I also like that the name is provocative.
• How long have you been into music?
Professionally, I’ve been in music for 6 years now.
• Wonderful! Checking your biography, we can see you tried pushing your career from a difficult entertainment community like Makurdi. How did you cope with that?
I wasn’t in Makurdi for long; the major push started when I was at the University of Ibadan.
• Nice. How was that for you? What’s the struggle like?
Oh well, it definitely has its highs and lows. One thing for me is that I try to enjoy every bit of the process. So I’d say, it was a good learning experience.
• How do you connect with your fans through your music?
Building a loyal fanbase creates a community of supporters who will help spread the music. So, I consistently try to come up with ideas on how to build a community, one fan at a time, to walk the journey with me as I grow.
A few ways I do this are through social media platforms, live performances to connect face-to-face with the fans, online communities/groups, collaborations with other creatives, etc. This has helped me over the years to stay connected and in touch with my fans.
• Have you had the chance to work with a celebrity artist before?
I served as a backup singer for the legendary 2Baba, with whom I, along with a boy band team, did a song. He’s the only celebrity artist I’ve worked with so far. There are plans in the pipeline for more to come soon, of course.
• (Amazing!) Who would you love to work with in the future?
I have a long list of local and international stars I’d love to work with. But at the back of my mind right now, I’d say Ayra Starr and Bnxn (formerly Buju). I think we can create some magic together.
