Emerging from Nigeria’s vibrant alternative music scene, Kida Oj returns with a dazzling new single titled Zodiac Sign—a genre-defying Afrodancehall track infused with rhythm, wit, and lyrical flair.

Officially released on June 20, 2025, the song positions Kida Oj not only as a sonic innovator but also as a cultural bridge connecting Africa to the global Black diaspora through a humorous and heartfelt take on modern love and astrology.

About the Artist: Kida Oj

Born Ayomide Anota, Kida Oj has steadily carved out a niche for himself by blending Alté’s soulful introspection with Dancehall’s infectious energy. A proud figure in Abuja’s creative resurgence, his collaborative resume includes heavyweights like Zilla Oaks, Grammy-winning producer Phantom, and hitmaker Egar Boi.

More than his accolades, Kida Oj’s music reflects a broader mission: unifying Africans, Caribbeans, Black Americans, and diasporic communities through rhythm, storytelling, and shared cultural identity. His sound is marked by lyrical depth, genre fusion, and a deep understanding of the emotional textures that move listeners.

Zodiac Sign: A Playful Yet Poignant Story

At its heart, Zodiac Sign is more than just a feel-good anthem. It’s a cultural commentary wrapped in melody — a humorous, intimate take on how astrology influences modern romance.

In the artist’s own words:

“It’s a vibrant showcase of new-age dancehall music. I wanted it to feel nostalgic yet fresh — with piano chords, melodic vocals, and lyrics that speak to the complexities of dating woke women in this era. ‘Zodiac Sign’ starts off sweet and ends on a cheeky note, literally listing all the star signs like I’m trying to cover my bases.”
