TALK TO US SPECIAL: EESKAYThe update

EESKAY EESKAY… Let’s do this, let’s do this again.
Nice to have you on today’s special celebrity episode of TALK WITH US. Let’s get to know you officially.
• What’s your real name?
My real name is Ishaq Baba Bello.
• Most people hear your name and think you adapted it from the popular weed (SK). What’s the inspiration behind your stage name?
The inspiration behind my name was actually taken from somebody else’s initiative. I was called Skiddy, but a friend of mine advised I should drop the IDDY and just keep SK. So, we got SK. I decided to add 2 E’s (EE) to it because it represented my brand—Double Energy. It caught on, and everyone loved it.
• We know how long you’ve been pushing your career. Do you feel frustrated at any point?
(Deep sigh) Not really. I mean, life is a journey. As long as I’m learning, I’m fine.
• How can you define your music style and its relation to your fanbase?
Hmm… My music style? I think I just come up with more of the energy, whether it’s in a calm way or a hard way. I deliver music that keeps the audience wondering, what’s next?
• Let’s discuss Robo Skeng. That song seems to have some of the hardest bars in the country right now. What was the creative process like?
The creative process of Robo Skeng was mainly from adapting Lagos Boys by Olamide. I was like, I’d love to do a Robo Skeng after getting my new haircut. That’s how it was, basically—just vibes.
• Before you write music, what are those warm-up routines you use?
I write music. That’s one of the things I try to tap into—thinking about what I’ve been through and where I wanna see myself. Then I (uhm) roll another one. You get me? (laughs).
• The year seems to be steaming for your arrival since the release of Bad Character Remix. Do you think it’s breakthrough time?
Breakthrough already came, but there’s no such thing as too much breakthrough. So, we keep it going. Sure man, we’re here to stay.
• If you were to meet a die-hard fan, what would be your advice to him?
Hmm, if I were to meet a die-hard fan, my advice would be… go with the energy. If you’re supporting me, make sure you’re supporting yourself too. It’s different ways. You can get carried away with another artist you love, but you should show that love to yourself too. Fans are more precious when it’s fun and mutual energy. Keep supporting, bro, I need you.
