COLLECTIVE SPOTLIGHT: The Rise of Northorious – A New Era for Jos’ Music SceneThe update
For too long, the Nigerian music industry has been defined by a few major cities—Lagos, Abuja, and Port Harcourt—while other regions, bursting with talent, remain overlooked. But now, a bold collective from Jos is shaking things up. Their name? Northorious.
Northorious is not just another group of artists—it’s a revolution. Formed by Afro-fusion artist Asound, with early support from Miles Ayo and Dexywane, this collective embodies a fresh wave of northern talent determined to put Jos on the global music map.The lineup includes Asound, YN Asahd, Dexywane, Sazzy Sos, Snowflexxy, Xaint Jhaypee, Miles Ayo, Danziko, Timzy Mani, and Ammiee—all of whom bring their unique artistry to the table.
With the release of their debut project, NORTHORIOUS, the collective delivers a powerhouse of genre-blending sounds, raw emotions, and bold storytelling. The album, featuring dynamic tracks like Chillalo, Taste, and Northorious, showcases the versatility of its members, from the melodic rap of YN Asahd to the enchanting vocals of Ammiee and the high-energy delivery of Sazzy Sos.

But beyond the music, Northorious stands for something greater—unity, culture, and a shift in perspective. Jos, a city known for producing legends like MI Abaga and Ice Prince, has long been a breeding ground for talent. Yet, many artists feel the pressure to relocate to Lagos or Abuja to “make it.” Northorious is here to challenge that notion.
