Ozumba Michael Law, better known as Zumzy Brown, was a shining star in Abuja’s vibrant music scene. Zumzy was known for his lyrical genius. His versatile sound made significant contributions to Hip Hop and Afrobeat. These contributions left an indelible mark on Nigeria’s music landscape. Unfortunately, his life was tragically cut short in 2021.

A Rising Star
Zumzy Brown, a 300-level Political Science student at Veritas University, Abuja, seamlessly balanced academics with his growing music career. Cza managed him under Royal Empire Management (REM). He was more than an artist. He was a storyteller, a lyricist, and a voice for his generation. His songs included hits like Maxxxxximum, School Waka, and Pull Up. They showcased his ability to blend traditional Hip Hop vibes with Afrobeat energy. This created a sound that resonated with fans across Nigeria and beyond.
Tragic Loss
On May 4th, 2021, Zumzy Brown passed away after suffering an asthmatic attack in Wuse, Abuja. His untimely death sent shockwaves through the music industry and among his fans. Just before his passing, Zumzy left a haunting message on social media: “Had too much potential. Good night world.” This poignant note now serves as a reminder. It highlights the talent that the Nigerian music scene lost far too soon.

Keeping the Legacy Alive
Despite his tragic passing, Zumzy’s music continues to thrive. Under the stewardship of Royal Empire Management, his team has worked tirelessly to honor his legacy. On November 23, 2024, his posthumous track Long Talk was released as part of his upcoming project Long Live Zumzy. The compilation album The Legend, Zumzy Brown shows his artistry. Law the Cypher is a joint management project named in his memory. It celebrates his influence on Hip Hop culture.
